6th Global Eco Forum in Barcelona

Entrepreneurship and sustainability are the stars of the program of the 6th Global Eco Forum in Barcelona

The Euro-Mediterranean Sustainability Forum at La Pedrera (Gaudi's Casa Milà) in Barcelona, organized by eco-union, is consolidated as a reference in the debate on green economy and sustainable societies. Urban Empathy project was presented within the working sessions by the Urban Ecology Agency Of Barcelona, as partner of the proyect.

On 22 October 2013, Barcelona was the capital of sustainability in the Euro-Mediterranean Region. The sixth Global Eco Forum brought together experts, thinkers and professionals committed to a future based on advanced, sustainable and inclusive societies. A whole year's work finally culminates here in the programming that was attended by speakers as Hazel Henderson, pioneer ecologist from economics ethics Ethical Markets Media, organisations such as Worldwatch Institute Europe, WWF Mediterranean section, or the Foundation Culture of Peace who presides Federico Mayor Zaragoza. Francesc Girò of Acciónatura, Beppe Croce (Legambiente, the most powerful environmental organisation in Italy) , or Albert Massot (representative of Policy Department and Agricultural Research of European Parliament) and Pere Torres (Secretary General for Business and Competitiveness of Catalan Government) are other components that was part of the dialogue. Other organisations that form part of this GEF are CP/RAC (Regional Activity Centre for Cleaner Production), Club Emas, ecodigma, Incubaeco, ecodes and Forética.

International dialogues, workshops and cultural events with topics focused on the green economy, eco-entrepeneurship, Green jobs, circular economy, welfare, social innovation, sustainable tourism, sustainable cities, eco-agriculture... and a new quote from The Dreamers CONTEST, an original eco-entrepreneurs and eco-activists meeting shows that ethat entrepreneurship and sustainability are fully compatible concepts: Composting and urban recycling, renewable energies for agricultural community, natural cosmetics or sustainable cities crops are some of the ideas that were released on Tuesday from 21h at La Pedrera.

Global Eco Forum is also culture. We are fans of the work by Drap-Art, a non-proft association that since 1995 promotes creative recycling. Organisers of the International Recycling Art Festival of Catalonia (to be held this year in December at CCCB Barcelona). They are also responsible for the cultural program of the GEF with artists such as Art Parabelum, Bernat Capellades, Eduard Palacios, Creative Hache, Petulapla, System Design Studio or Toni Moranta. The performative element was provided by Domestic Sound System, big band that uses recycled instruments in their performances. Meanwhile, Helena Lizarran, dancer and choreographer, presented their dance interludes titled "CARTOGRAFÍAS" .
